| See some of the icons of this World Heritage listed National Park, encompassing the ancient Aboriginal culture in the area as well as the different ecosystems found within its boundaries. This is a great tour for those wanting to do more than just sightseeing as it includes a walk to the base of a waterfall with the opportunity for a refreshing swim. Visit Ubirr to see the Aboriginal rock art, take a cruise on the Yellow Water Wetlands. Plus you’ll visit the Kakadu Culture Camp for a tour exclusive to AAT Kings.
Day 1: Darwin - Kakadu Depart Darwin at 6.30am. Turning off the Stuart Highway, we travel along the Arnhem Highway passing the major river systems and wetland regions into Kakadu National Park. After crossing the South Alligator River we begin to explore the World Heritage Area of Ubirr, where we’ll climb up through the ancient Aboriginal rock art galleries to the lookout for the famous view over surrounding wetlands. We then call in to the Bowali Visitor Centre with its informative displays and continue to Cooinda to join Kakadu’s fabled Yellow Water Wetlands Cruise to experience the beauty of the Kakadu wetlands. L Day 2: Aboriginal Culture - Darwin Today’s highlights include a fascinating visit with Aboriginal traditional land owners from the East Alligator region of Kakadu, at the Kakadu Culture Camp, with its spectacular views and pristine freshwater environs. After a short drive from C ooinda to Djarradjin Billabong, meet our hosts and transfer by boat across the beautiful billabong to a secluded bush site. Enjoy learning about the traditional Aboriginal way of life. Hear intriguing stories about Aboriginal history, the language and the interpretation of the seasonal cycles of the bush. Learn a few secrets of the sources and preparation of ‘bush tucker’ and perhaps have a try at throwing a hunting spear. Then on to Maguk where a walk through paper bark forest leads to a small waterfall and plunge pool for an afternoon swim, before returning to Darwin on the old 4WD Jim Jim Road, arriving at approximately 6.30pm. | The fee is $25 per adult. You only have to pay this fee once when purchasing 2 or more Day Tours in this national park, as entry is valid for 3 consecutive days. It is an additional compulsory government charge at time of booking and is subject to change without notice. Children 15 years and under are not required to pay the entry fee. You must carry your ticket with you every time you enter the National Park or you will be required to purchase another ticket. | |||
| Between November and April Kakadu Culture Camp is closed due to seasonal conditions. Alternative touring to Nourlangie Rock is included. If Ubirr and/or Maguk are closed, areas such as Nanguluwur, Gubara Pools or Nawulandja will be visited. | |||
