Day 1: Yellow Water Wetlands
Depart Darwin at 6.30am and travel into Kakadu National Park. Explore the World Heritage Area of Ubirr where we climb up through the ancient Aboriginal rock art galleries. Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre with its informative displays, and continue to Cooinda to join Kakadu’s fabled Yellow Water Wetlands Cruise.

Day 2: Exclusive Kakadu Culture Camp
Included Optional We visit the Aboriginal traditional land owners from the East Alligator region of Kakadu for a tour exclusive to AAT Kings, at the Kakadu Culture Camp. We meet our hosts at Djarradjin Billabong and transfer by boat to a secluded bush site and enjoy learning about the traditional Aboriginal way of life. Later we venture to Barramundi Gorge, where a 2km return walk through paperbark forest leads to a small waterfall and clear plunge pool with the opportunity to swim.
Day 3: Jim Jim and Twin Falls
Explore the majestic beauty of Jim Jim and Twin Falls. Access to Jim Jim Gorge is by a 900 metre walk over rocks. The falls may not flow throughout the dry season, but if there has been a reasonable wet season they will still be running up until late August and the plunge pool at the base of Jim Jim provides the opportunity for a welcome swim throughout the year. Take a short boat trip up the gorge area to the beach at the base of Twin Falls, with time to relax in the spectacular scenery. Late afternoon we make our way out back to Darwin arriving at approximately 9.30pm. |

Day 1: Yellow Water Wetlands
Depart Darwin at 6.30am and travel into Kakadu National Park. After crossing the South Alligator River we begin to explore the World Heritage Area of Ubirr, where we climb up through the ancient Aboriginal rock art galleries to the lookout for the famous view over surrounding wetlands. We then inspect the Bowali Visitor Centre with its informative displays, and continue to Cooinda to join Kakadu’s fabled Yellow Water Wetlands Cruise to experience the beauty of the Kakadu wetlands.

Day 3: Arnhem Land
We visit remote, mysterious and restricted areas of Kakadu and Arnhem Land. This is Aboriginal land – a unique area where Aboriginal people live a lifestyle more closely linked to their true culture and heritage. This 4WD tour will visit Mikinj Valley, a superbly scenic area of sandstone outcrops and escarpments, forest, floodplains and billabongs. With the co-operation of the Manilakarr people, this tour will allow you to see places inaccessible to most. Hear of traditional land ownership, learn of bush skills, hunting, food gathering and preparation. Return to Darwin arriving at approximately 9.30pm. |

EXCLUSIVE TO AAT KINGS
This superb small group safari style camping tour visits a wide range of environments at the ideal times of day for a true appreciation of Kakadu National Park. With special permission from the traditional custodians, we have been granted exclusive overnight access to the Aboriginal land of Hawk Dreaming.
This area abounds with many examples of ancient rock art and occupation sites with no fences and no crowds and with the permission of the traditional owners of Hawk Dreaming, our guides will introduce you to this special place. A truly intimate experience with ancient Aboriginal history. With a maximum group size of only sixteen people, you’ll receive truly personalised service. We use deluxe air-conditioned 4WD vehicles with forward facing seating for your comfort.
Overnight in our exclusive safari camp, in purpose built, comfortable, permanent safari tents. Each permanent tent sleeps two adults and has a lockable front door entry with ample standing space and headroom. Comfortably fitted with standard size beds (double bed subject to availability), sheets and pillows and a fan will ensure a good night’s rest. Shower and toilet facilities, including running hot and cold water, are provided in the camp.

Day 1: Exclusive Hawk Dreaming
Included Optional Depart Darwin at 7.00am and travel to Kakadu National Park. En route we will take a break at the Bark Hut Inn, an interesting outback pub. As an introduction to Kakadu and its various habitats we start our touring with the Guluyambi boat cruise on the East Alligator River, an Aboriginal cultural and scenic experience on one of Kakadu’s most scenic waterways. The river forms the border between Kakadu and Arnhem Land. Aboriginal guides provide an insight into local Aboriginal culture, the river’s abundant food sources and traditional uses for many plants as well as bush survival skills. After the cruise we make our way to Hawk Dreaming camp. In the afternoon visit Ubirr, where your guide will interpret some of the meanings behind the ancient Aboriginal rock art found through the galleries. A short climb will take you to a lookout with panoramic views over the surrounding landscape and the lands of Hawk Dreaming. In the late afternoon return to Hawk Dreaming and enjoy a sunset nearby camp before a delicious home cooked dinner.

Day 2: Jim Jim Falls
After breakfast drive out of camp to begin a truly enjoyable day exploring the majestic beauty of Jim Jim Falls. Access to Jim Jim Gorge is by a 900 metre walk over rocks. The falls may not flow throughout the dry season, but if there has been a reasonable wet season they will still be running up until late August and the plunge pool at the base of Jim Jim provides the opportunity for a welcome swim throughout the year. Enjoy a picnic in the bush. The surrounding gorges are a spectacle to behold as the rock colours continuously change with the sun’s position. There’s time to relax in the spectacular scenery that you are bound to remember for a long time. Return to Hawk Dreaming in the late afternoon.
Day 3: Yellow Water Billabong
Spend the early part of the morning exploring the Aboriginal lands of Hawk Dreaming – visit some of the ancient rock art sites and shelters in the land of the Bunitj people. Here intimate rock art sites can be explored at a leisurely pace. Without fences or crowds, there’s time to soak up the spiritual atmosphere of the area. Sit and learn in outdoor ‘classrooms’ just like the Aboriginal people have done for thousands of years. In the late morning bid goodbye to Hawk Dreaming and head south to Cooinda, home of the Yellow Water wetlands. After a picnic lunch at Cooinda, embark the famous Yellow Water Cruise where you have the opportunity to spot crocodiles, birds and other wildlife. After the cruise begin the journey back to Darwin, arriving at approximately 6.00pm. |
