Day 1: Alice Springs – Uluru (Ayers Rock)
Travel through the West MacDonnell and James Ranges. Stop at a camel farm for an optional camel ride (own expense) and later stop to view majestic Atila (Mt. Conner), before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort. This afternoon travel to Kata Tjuta, with a photo stop made along the way. Walk between the domes in Walpa Gorge, before travelling to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Watch the sun set and the changing colours of Uluru whilst enjoying a complimentary glass of wine.

Day 1: Kata Tjuta – Uluru (Ayers Rock)
Depart Alice Springs at 7.30am and travel
south through the West MacDonnell and
James Ranges. Visit a camel farm where
there is time for a camel ride (own expense).
Later stop at Mt. Ebenezer Roadhouse for
the opportunity to purchase morning tea
and locally made Aboriginal art. Pause
to view majestic Atila (Mt. Conner), a
significant sacred site, often mistaken
for Uluru, before arriving at Ayers Rock
Resort. Travel to the mystical 36 domes
of Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). On the way, stop
at a lookout for a panoramic view of the
southern side of Kata Tjuta, before arriving
at Walpa Gorge. Spend some time exploring
the gorge and the unusual conglomerate
rock formations. The walking trail through
Walpa Gorge follows the natural creek
between two of the tallest domes of Kata
Tjuta. In the late afternoon we travel to
the Uluru sunset viewing area. Witness the
striking colour changes of Uluru at sunset
while enjoying a complimentary glass of
sparkling wine.

Day 2: Kings Canyon – Alice Springs
Rise early and drive through sand hill
country towards Kings Canyon, stopping
for breakfast at Kings Creek Station (own
expense). Continue on to Watarrka National
Park where you can make the rock climb
with your guide to the rim of Kings Canyon
to be rewarded with marvellous views.
The climb may take up to 3 hours and
is for those with a good level of fitness.
Or you may wish to explore the boulderstrewn
canyon floor, an easier walk. Later,
we return to Alice Springs, arriving at
approximately 7.00pm. |

Day 2: Sounds of Silence Dinner
This morning join the Uluru Sunrise, Climb and Base Tour (Y18) or for the non-climbers, the Uluru Sunrise and Guided Cultural Walk (Y41). Both tours include watching sunrise at Uluru and a visit to Mutitjulu Waterhole and the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. The first option allows time for climbing, whilst the second option includes a longer guided walk at the base of Uluru. See pages 16/17 for more itinerary details. Time is also available for an optional scenic flight (own expense). In the evening dine under a million stars at the award-winning Sounds of Silence Dinner. Enjoy a gourmet buffet of Australian delicacies accompanied by fine Australian wines, then sit back and relax as an astronomer takes you on a tour of the southern night skies (conditions permitting).
Day 3: Uluru (Ayers Rock)
You will be transferred from your hotel to Ayers Rock Airport for your flight (airfare not included in tour price). |

Day 2: Kings Canyon
An early start this morning to drive through sandhill country to Kings Canyon stopping for breakfast at Kings Creek Station (own expense) along the way. Make the rocky climb to the rim of the canyon to be rewarded with marvellous views of Watarrka National Park. The climb may take up to 3 hours and is for those with a good level of fitness. Alternatively, you may wish to explore the boulder strewn canyon floor, an easier walk. After lunch (own expense) we make our way back to Ayers Rock Resort.
Day 3: Uluru (Ayers Rock)
This morning join the Uluru Sunrise, Climb and Base Tour (Y18) or for the non-climbers, the Uluru Sunrise and Guided Cultural Walk (Y41). Both tours include a visit to Mutitjulu Waterhole and the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. See pages 16/17 for more itinerary details. The climb may take up to 3 hours and is recommended for those with a good level of fitness. Alternatively, you may wish to explore the boulder-strewn canyon floor, an easier shady walk that follows the trail between the two sheer walls of the canyon. Stop at Kings Canyon Resort to purchase lunch (own expense) before returning to Alice Springs. |
