Darwin Markets

The Darwin markets are an event that people travel from all around to come and experience for themselves. Markets are a great place for the whole family, but the Darwin Markets really are something else, offering clothes, food, art and craftwork, live entertainment and designer clothing.

There are six different markets that are held throughout the year in Darwin all offering different things to try on or sample. They include the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets, Sunday Mindil Sunset Markets, Palmerston Markets, Rapid Creek Markets, Parap Markets and the Nightcliff Markets.

The Mindil Beach Sunset Markets are held on Thursday evening from April to October where you can come and enjoy the five continents and then stroll down to the beach and watch a sunset no canvas could ever hope to capture on the beautiful Mindil Beach. The Sunday Mindil Sunset Markets have a huge range of food, art and craftwork and is a celebration of tropical life, where a multicultural community comes together as stallholders to share their foods, crafts and music. The Palmerston Markets are held every evening from April to October and these are classed as the family market because they tend to have a more relaxed atmosphere amongst the crowd and the fun entertainment provides the kids with heaps of enjoyment.

Rapid Creek Markets or on every Sunday all year round for everyone to come and enjoy! These are Darwin’s oldest markets and operate on Sunday mornings starting at 6:30am and running until 13:00pm in the shelter of the Rapid Creek Shopping Centre Village where you can find fresh fruit and vegetables at really fantastic prices. The Parap Markets are on Saturday mornings and they are very popular with the locals as this colourful market place will captivate you with its many styles of food, art and crafts while still keeping a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Looking for original crafts such as copper sculptures, fairy dresses, hemp designer clothing for the tropics or traditional Asian crafts, then you should definitely come and check out the Nightcliff Markets held on Sundays at the Nightcliff Shopping Village.
