Darwin may seem like a laid back town in the middle of nowhere, but it is actually the largest city in the Northern Territory. Due to this Darwin has a wide range of activities the whole family can enjoy, ranging from the hands on activities to the sitting and relaxing style.
Crocodylus Park and Zoo – Come face to face with a diverse range of animals including big cats, primates, birds and reptiles. The main attraction of this zoo however is the hands on area for crocodiles.
Aquascene – Come and get wet and actually hand feed the wide range of fish that come looking for a feed each high tide. Milkfish, mullet, catfish, bream and barramundi can be seen close enough to touch. Many other species including rays, cod, mangrove jack and diamond fish may also be seen in the shallows if you watch carefully.
East Point Military Museum – With having 64 raids conducted on Darwin by the Japanese during World War 2, there isn't a much better place to go and learn about artillery and World War 2 than East Point Military Museum.
Deckchair Cinema – Roll up with a picnic basket under your arm and choose a deckchair to sit in. The Deckchair Cinema puts a spin on the ordinary cinema experience by having deckchairs as the seats for everyone. They show a wide range of media including a range of movies from family favourites to festivals and foreign films.
Sky City Casino – Feeling lucky? Well Sky City Casino has the full gambling range for you to try your luck at. You never know you might strike it lucky and win the big jackpot.
Accommodation can be something that isn't always thought about when planning what you are going to see and how you can fit it all in. This can mean that you will be driving round for hours looking for a hotel that isn't full, especially during school holidays. Thankfully there are plenty of different hotels and motels that will quite often have beds free. These are nearly all found within the city so only a short drive from each other or they’re in close proximity of the city. This means there is less time spent looking for hotels, and more time spent looking at the wonderful sites that Darwin has to offer.
With Darwin being such a large city filled with places for tourists to go, these are just a couple of places available. For more information you can call our free-call number, 1800 815 378, and we will help you with any needs or questions you might have.
