Barramundi are one of the world's greatest sport fish! It is the dream of many anglers to land one of these spectacularly beautiful fish when barramundi fishing at Kakadu. Memories of that first thumping strike from a large barra will bathe many a cold winter’s night in tropical glow; the recollection of the sheer aggression of the take; the awesome display of power when they rear from the water, fighting in desperation to toss the lure back in your face. Recall the ultimate satisfaction; a truly wild fish, taken in a true wilderness and released back into that un-tamed, untarnished corner of this great country to live … and fight … another day! The barramundi is truly the King of our sportfish. Or more correctly Queen of our fishing. "Barra" as they are affectionately known by locals, are born in fresh water, live part of their lives in the salt water, and change into females on maturity.

Fish one of Kakadu National Park's many waterways and go in search of the mighty barramundi with any one of the companies that operate tours just for this activity. As you enjoy this fishing challenge you can view amazing scenery, and may spot migratory birds, crocodiles or other wildlife. Kakadu fishing trips are an ideal opportunity to catch Australia's famed sports fish the barramundi. Half day or full day fishing trips on the South Alligator or East Alligator River depart from Jabiru / Kakadu). Fishing tours provide rods, reels, tuition.

The Run Off is one of the best times of the year to get into some serious Barramundi Fishing. Occurring at the end of the wet season when the floodplains are draining into the big rivers, Barramundi congregate at these Run Off locations for an easy feed. This congregation of Barra makes it easier than other times of the year to find the fish; this also offers one of the better opportunities to tangle with a trophy Barramundi over the magic metre mark.

Limited licenses are issued to operate sports fishing tours in heritage listed Kakadu National park and we have met the stringent guidelines set down to be one of the few guides able to operate within the park. These licenses limit pressure on the River and help to ensure a great fishery for years to come. For the novice or enthusiast the opportunity for some of the best fishing in northern Australia can be found here. The Bullo River flows for 50 miles exclusively on the property providing the opportunity for fresh and tidal salt water fishing. The Bullo River then joins the Victoria River, one of the largest and most remote rivers in Australia and is the property’s eastern boundary. Whilst Bullo is famous for excellent Barramundi fishing there are also other species including Thread Fin Salmon, Jew Fish, Mangrove Jack and Black Bream.
