What to expect

You'll depart early with your guide and travel in a coach across the ochre plains toward the MacDonnell Ranges. At Kings Creek Station, you'll fuel up with station-cooked breakfast before choosing your walk. The Rim Walk is exposed, steep in sections, and demands steady legs over three hours—reward comes via vertiginous views into the 270-metre-deep chasm. Alternatively, the Creek Bed Walk stays in dappled shade, following the creek through red-rock corridors. Both routes are non-technical but require concentration on rocky terrain. Lunch and any additional drinks are at your own cost at the resort. Return to Uluru by late afternoon.

Good to know

Moderate fitness essential for either walk. Bring water, hat, and sunscreen; the exposed ridges offer no shelter. Entry to Watarrka National Park requires a separate NT Parks Pass (AUD$10 adults, AUD$5 children). Helicopter flights can be booked on the day if doing the Creek Bed Walk. Infants sit on laps; no separate seats.
